Good afternoon this is Ms. Singer, Principal of Cottonwood, I am calling with some sad news. Yesterday morning, we received word that one of our beloved staff members, 5th grade teacher Rob Gajus, passed away. This is a great loss for the Cottonwood Family and a difficult time for all of us. We will have counselors available this week for students and staff. Our hearts go out to his family and the entire Cottonwood community.

We will be distributing at home COVID test kits for all Cottonwood students next week, from Tuesday, January 18, through Friday, January 21. Parents may come to the front office and pick up the test kits from 8:30 to 1:30 on those days. The parent must show ID to receive them. They cannot be sent home with a student. These are optional, not mandatory.

Cottonwood families, the city of Hesperia has notified us of a Road Closure Notice: Maple Ave will undergo repaving between Mesquite Ave and Muscatel St. This section will be closed to through-traffic from January 7th to 14th between 7AM - 4PM. Detours will be posted onsite. Please be aware that this may affect our drop off and pick up lines. Please be patient during this time.

Happy New Year Cottonwood Coyotes. We look forward to welcoming back our staff and students tomorrow, Monday 1/3. This is a reminder that if your child is having any Covid-like symptoms, please keep them home and inform the school nurse ASAP. The state has seen a spike in Covid-related illnesses and we want to do everything we can to prevent the spread at school. We encourage all students and staff to follow CDPH guidelines including but not limited to social distancing, washing/sanitizing hands and wearing a mask. Thank you.

Good morning Cottonwood families. We just want to remind our families of safety procedures when dropping off students in the morning. Please do not let your child cross the street onto campus except at the crosswalk where we have a crossing guard. This presents a safety hazard to students. Cottonwood families, our lost and found container is overflowing with items. Is your child missing a jacket or lunch bag? You are welcome to come by anytime after school until 3 pm to look through the pile for your child's belongings. After Nov. 10th, we will donate all left over items to a local charity. Good morning Cottonwood families. We have been having an issue with parents lining up too soon for pick which blocks our fire line. For today and tomorrow, please don't line up until after 11:00 am. You may line up outside of the parking lot, but please don't block driveways or mailboxes. Starting next week, please don't line up until after 1:15. Thanks for helping us keep everyone safe!
