Dear Parents and Families:
Welcome to an exciting new school year at Cottonwood Elementary School! The Coyote staff and I are looking forward to seeing you all very soon. Our first big school event will be Back to School Night on Thursday, August 24th, but we’ll be available to meet with parents starting on the first day of school.
Please take a few minutes to go through the Student-Parent Handbook that your child was given in class. This will explain our pickup procedures, school rules, and everything else you’ll need to know to help your child get the school year off to a great start. Of particular interest will be our very popular “Howl-a-Palooza!” program. This is an incentive program designed to reward students for having good attendance, working hard, and being on their best behavior. We believe that every Cottonwood student is capable of reaching the Howl-a-Palooza goals, and with support from you, will have a very successful year.
As you probably know, Cottonwood has a schoolwide theme of Social, Physical, and Academic Fitness. Throughout the year, we’ll be having special events based on those concepts for students, staff, and families. To help out with this, we have partnered with Happy Healthy Kids, who will be joining us each month to engage students in fun, healthy activities. And of course, we’ll be continuing with the Rachel’s Challenge program to encourage kids to start their own chain reactions of kindness at school and in our community.
We always welcome parents to share their concerns, ideas, and opinions about Cottonwood’s programs and policies. If you ever have questions, please contact me or Ms. Singer at school or by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org ; email@example.com). You can also find us on Facebook (@cottonwoodcoyotes).
Once again, welcome to Cottonwood, and we’ll see you at school soon!
Chris Mauger, Principal
